Introduction to Academic Standards

Academic standards are clear expectations that define what students should know and be able to do at each grade level in specific subjects.

Academic skills: Listening🎧, SpeakingπŸ—£️, Reading πŸ“–and Writing✍️

~Study skills such as note-taking, academic reading & writing, using references and doing oral presentation allows student to understand and express language necessary for every academic settings. Therefore, all the skills need to be combined and incorporated into the teaching and learning process.

                                                 Academic Integrity


Academic integrity includes acting with honesty, fairness, trust and responsibility.

If we found student practicing such behavior than it is referred to as;

Cheating

1. Copying answers from another student during an exam.

2. Submitting someone else’s work as your own, such as buying essays or using AI without attribution.

3. Using unauthorized aids like hidden notes or not permitted  calculators during tests.

Not Cheating

1. Completing an assignment independently and citing all sources properly.

2. Studying collaboratively but submitting individual work that reflects personal understanding.

3. Using authorized materials (like open book exams or teacher-provided notes) as instructed.

Depends

1. Working with classmates on a take-home assignment without clear rules about collaboration.

2. Reusing portions of your own work (self-plagiarism) in a new assignment, depending on the institution’s policy.

3. Asking for clarification on an assignment and receiving too much detailed help, which may blur the line between guidance and academic dishonesty.
